Wealth management is being rebuilt around data and reporting, not around products. The instruments themselves — funds, structured products, discretionary mandates — have changed less in the last decade than the layer through which clients now experience them. Real-time portfolio views, tax-aware reporting, ESG attribution, performance against personalised benchmarks, and consolidated views across custodians are becoming the proposition, with the underlying products commoditised beneath.
At the same time the industry is splitting in two directions at once: digital-native platforms reaching segments private banks never served, and private banks rebuilding their adviser tooling to defend the ones they did. Intergenerational wealth transfer is reshaping who the next-decade client is, and the regulatory layer around suitability, disclosure, and cross-border distribution is tightening in parallel.
